Sample rate doesn’t change

If I use my Mac book pro an switch to 96khz sampling and music is less than 96 it makes an upsampling instead of switching down on the usb output.

mir I use my iPad or iPhone with lightning to usb I don’t get a higher sample rate than 44.1khz. Still with high res it stays 44.1 my d/a converter says.

how to hear music with Apple Music always in the native sample rate?!?

Music app on Mac doesn't change automatically the sample rate.

Recently a developer published an app that changes the sample rate of Apple Music streaming automatically. It's still in early stages – it looks promising, though:

https://github.com/vincentneo/LosslessSwitcher

For locally stored files (owned), there's an app on App Store named BitPerfect that matches the Music app and a DAC in exclusive mode making the sample rate switching automatic. As said, it doesn't work for streamed music – local owned tracks only:

iOS/iPadOS devices should switch sample rate automatically when connected to a DAC via a Lightning/USB adapter.

Are you sure the played track is streamed and not a previously downloaded version saved on your iPad/iPhone. I'm asking because some users experienced similar issues unless they deleted a downloaded song.

Already tried with a different DAC (if you own it or if you can borrow one) to check if it works in a different configuration? Or the usual stuff like rebooting the DAC/iPad/iPhone?

I can assure you that with an iPhone/iPad-DAC combination the sample rate switches automatically on iOS/iPadOS. It worked even before the introduction of Apple Music with local played files or locally shared Mac music libraries.
