Sample Rate for external usb audio device will not change when playing Hires Lossless Audio with apple music after IPadOS16 Update

Hi,

after the Update to the newest IPadOS Version, Apple Music will not change the sampling rate of an external Audio Device connected via USB-C, when a Hires Audio File is played.

Before the update Apple Music changed sampling rates according to the recording of the music Track, now it always downsamples to 44kHz.

I cross checked this with another IPad audio player app, which also plays Hi-Res Audio Files, which changes sampling rate according to the file properties, even if the same Hardware, Cable etc is used. So it seems to be an issue in Apple Music not IPadOS 16.

Is there a way to work around this issue?

Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.

2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.

3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.

4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Hi c_luc9,

my post literally started with „after the Update to the newest IPadOS Version“ :)

I think this bug is rather an edge case but could be problematic for folks doing aufio production, as the iPad to my knowledge has no method allowing manual configuration of sample rate.
