Media volume lowers itself automatically when in call

idk if it’s because an iphone thing or ios 16, but i just upgraded to 14 pro and ios 16. Whenever I’m in a facetime or messenger call with airpods on, if the call picks up any sound (like car passing or a person speaking) other apps’ volume lowers automatically to the point it’s inaudible. I know on my old phone the volume is lowered when you’re in a call but it never auto adjust the volume. i tried adjusting all sound settings i can find and still nothing happens.
