installing mac os sierra fails with error "Permission Denied" and only one volume

Hello, I have a MacBook Air early 2014. I'm trying to install it and it doesn't work.

It might help if I mention it only has one volume called "OS X Base System"

See how it only has one drive/volume/whatever you call it

please help!

Base System is not for installing.

Highlight the Apple SSD SM001 above that, what does that say?
