Wide lens 0.5x malfunction

When I open my camera app, the 0.5x wide lens briefly appears and then disappears. Additionally, the camera then refocuses at 2x. I pinch out, but the furthest it will go out is 1x. The weird thing is that the 0.5x wide lens does work on panoramic, slow mo, and time lapse. I’ve already taken my phone to an Apple Store and they verified there is no damage to it. They basically said they’ve never heard of that issue and there’s nothing they can do because I’m past warranty. I have an IPhone 12pro max. Is there anything else I can do?
