MacBook Pro M1 fans suddely spinning like crazy and won't stop.

This happens during the startup sequence, in the black screen with the Apple logo, when the progress bar is around 25%. It's also happening in the "Startup Options" and "macOS Recover Mode".

I've been chatting with Apple support and they had me try a bunch of things (the usual... reboot, disconnect external devices, run hardware test) but nothing fixes it.

The hardware test told me there were no issues found (ADP000).

I've installed a utility to keep an eye on the system temperatures and all looks good - except for the fans - it does detect them running around like crazy.

I'm desperate for a fix as I don't have a lot of time to go to an Apple store and have them look at it. Any suggestions on what I can try from home are welcome!

You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.
