iTunes 12.8.3.1 gives error trying to sync with iPad Mini 6

iMac Mid-201w/MacOS 10.13.6, iPad Mini 6 w/iOS 15.4, iPhone 12 w/iOS 15.4

When I tried to sync my new iPad Mini 6 with iTunes via USB, I get this message:

However, my iPhone with the same version of iOS syncs just fine via USB.

There isn't a problem backing up the Mini 6 to my iMac via USB with iTunes, just with syncing.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

And, no, I can't buy a new iMac even though I'm maxed out on the MacOS & iTunes versions.

Update. I updated the iPad Mini 6 to iOS 15.5 and it is now syncing with iTunes.
