iOS 15.6.1 wont sync with iTunes 12.8.2.3

So I did the update to the iOS for my devices the other week as it was highly recommended with the security risk.

I was on my desktop and thought I should do a back up and low and behold neither device is recognised by my iTunes now which is 12.8.2.3 (there is no other update for iTunes on my computer available I checked). I have restarted both the devices and my computer I have unplugged re plugged tried all the options and nothing. It also doesn't with with iPhoto either.

Is there a fix for this as I can't update my computer more as there are no updates in the app store on it to update with!?

In Finder use the menu item Go > Go to Folder..., copy the following text, paste it into the dialog box and press enter:


/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/Current/Resources


Unlock your device and connect it to USB. Double click on MobileDeviceUpdater in the folder that has opened. It should notify you of a software update. Install it and iTunes should hopefully recognize your device.


If these steps haven't worked you can also try reinstalling iTunes12.8.2.3.dmg (El Capitan/Sierra) or iTunes12.8.3.1 (High Sierra) while your device is connected and unlocked.
