cannot insert photos in a word document

I have word 16.62, Monterey 12.4 on a 2018 MacBook Pro.

The documents are .docx

a) Suddenly I cannot drag and drop a photo into any document

b) If I use "insert", it produces a small square that says "The picture cannot be displayed"

New Photos with Sequoia will not save edits Trying to edit a photo in Sequoia's Photos app--brand new machine, just installed two days ago, iMac--and nothing will save. It will always revert. Of course this is my 87 year old father's machine and he uses exactly two apps--Photos and Mail. We've rebooted, etc. etc. Perhaps a known new operating system issue that a patch is to fix? Or somebody has a fix?

Photos title rewriting issue on macOS Sequoia After I import a few photos from iPhone to my MacBook Pro, I select one then press Command-i, and in the Info window, I place cursor at the first line where it shows "Add a title". But when I start typing, after some characters, the title rewrites itself: my typing is replaced with "Looking for titles…" So I'll select that and delete and start typing again, but the title rewrites itself again, sometimes completely, sometimes just some of my typing. After some minutes, I can eventually type the title I want and press return and it stays that way — it eventually doesn't re-write itself. It seems like when photos are newly imported into Photos, the software is doing something that prevents my changing of the photo's title. This behavior has afflicted my Photos for years. On macOS Sequoia 15.2. Macbook Pro 15-inch, 2018 (Intel i9, 32GB RAM, 2TB). Photos library has about 67K photos. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

I find it is useful to open the picture in the Preview application, then copy/paste it into Word from there.

Sometimes Word does not support the image format you desire.

I have always used jpeg and have inserted thousands of jpeg photos over the years. Suddenly, today, I can't do It. I will try your suggestion though.
