I am told that a software update is needed and asked if I wish to download it. When I do I get a message saying "can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server." My Mac's software version (Mojave 10.14.6) is up to date as is my iPhone's 12.0.1. I have restarted both devices andI tried two adapters to connect them. Am trying to synchronize my iCloud photos and getting nowhere.

Thank you. I read the articles and tried the suggested solutions but the problem won't go away. Since I still have Apple Care for both the phone and the computer, my next step is to try a Genius Bar. Fortunately I have an Apple store nearby.
