"required system update" for linking my iPhone 11 (via hardwire) to my Mac.

I'm running with High Sierra currently. But would like to be able to communicate with my phone via hard-wire to load pics onto an external through my hard drive. My Mac is telling me I need to install an "Update" to enable. But it doesn't say to what. Can I do this "update" and keep running High Sierra? I need it for it's compatibility with my version of ProTools among other things.

Thanks,

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Yes - at least for now. Bear in mind MacOS High Sierra is now nearly four years old.
