How can I stop Weather alerts for cities on iPhone 12 Pro?

I keep getting weather notifications for Chicago even though it is not in my weather app. (I used to track Chicago when I lived there but I moved and deleted it from my weather app.)

i tried adding Chicago to the app and then deleting it, but I still get notifications.

so weird. How can I get rid of these mystery notifications for Chicago and keep the other notifications I want?

I’ve added Chicago and made sure the notifications are turned off:

for the fun of it, I’ve also deleted and reinstalled the Weather app….

i will let you know how it goes… but I have to wait to know for sure….

No other Weather apps.

I set Location to “when using apps or widgets”. (I do have a Weather widget on my Home Screen.)

I had the icon for the Weather app hidden so I put it back on my Home Screen… just to see if it helps.

We’ll see if any of this works….

Ok, stay in touch. Apparently Chicago is at risk of a flash flood, so you may not have to wait long for alerts. Unless the problem is fixed, of course.

Going off topic: Hopefully we don’t get another Austin, Texas. 😢🙏 But I’m not sure how flat the land is there.

Open the Weather app. Tap the list icon in the bottom right corner, then the “more” button, top right. Then tap notifications.

Under the “Your locations” list, is Chicago listed? If so, does it say “off” beneath it?

If not, can you re-add it, then make sure the notifications are set to off, to try and “force” it to accept that it shouldn’t send notification for Chicago?

If none of that helps, delete and reinstall the Weather app. Please keep us updated.

Yes, precise location is turned on (and ‘Allow location access’ is set to Always).

Setting Location to “when using apps or widgets” doesn’t help. I’m still getting weather notifications for Chicago which is not in my Weather app.
