Intermittent Loss of Sound to External Speakers - M4 Max Studio
I have a 2025 M4 Max Apple Mac Studio (Sequoia 15.5) which I've connected from its USB-A outlets to a Bose Companion 2.1 system (built in amp, subwoofer and 2 x satellite speakers). It works very well for a while from either connection type but periodically just stops producing any sound - at the same time the internal Studio or Studio Display speakers will continue playing if I switch the sound output over to them. Usually the loss of connection happens after waking from sleep and sometimes for no reason I can identify. I've switched between both the Studio's USB-A outlets and the Thunderbolt 5 outlets but the results are the same - random loss of sound to my external speakers. Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube and Mac alert sounds are all affected.
My immediate fix is to unplug the USB-A/Tb5 connection and plug it back in again, but long term I couldn't put up with doing this every time. The same Bose system has no problems with my 2014 iMac so it's not the cable and is something my Mac Studio is not agreeing with. Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
