Brand new Mac Mini M2 distorts bass and has static hiss in Apple Music but youtube audio okay

Serious bass distortion even on clean-tones, acoustic and electric music played on the music app, or saved on my computer after transferring from old Macbook pro...it hung up during migration...so I cancelled the migration.

Computer seems to work okay other than the terrible sound quality. I record videos and music, so this is a deal killer if I can't get it fixed.

I plug in Bose speakers...not the highest-end speakers, but very good sound quality out of my old Macbook pro...just awful coming from this 512GB M2 Mac Mini.

Suggestions?

I went in to Music - Settings - Playback and turned off "sound-enhancer" and "sound-check", and it seems to have mostly solved the problem during playback. Also, had to turn the mac-mini off and back on...restarting didn't do anything.

Same exact problem I’m having but mine also sounds the same in YouTube. It’s happens whether using the 3.5mm port or audio through hdmi. I have been racking my brain trying to figure it out.
