ROES software not working on my Mac mini and MacBook Air

ROES is an app all professional photo labs use. Since getting my new Mac mini & air book, it will no longer recognize my files. I never had this issue with my older MacBook Pro. The photo labs cannot replicate my issue. Is there a setting in the new computers that would prohibit use of this software?

FYI, I would interpret that error message to include characters in the path to the file as well even though it specifically says "file name". If it cannot handle those characters in a file name, then it probably cannot handle them in the path as well. I would avoid them out of an abundance of caution.

I’ve downloaded it many times and keep getting the same error. I can launch ROES, but I get errors when trying to add a photo to a product. The files are named without incorrect symbols and saved in the correct formats. Bay engineers cannot reproduce the issue when I send them my files.

It’s happening on 2 different computers. A Mac mini & MacBook Air. Both brand new computers.

Any other thoughts as to why this is happening or ways to work around it?

What is the specific wording of the error message?

Also, please post the full path of one of the images that won't add to the interface. Do that by highlighting the file name, then press Command+Option+C . When you paste from the clipboard, it will include the full path. Edit that text if it includes personal information before adding it to a reply here.

The file name itself certainly isn't a problem. And while the OS has no trouble with ~ glyphs and the spaces in a folder name (2025.04.17 Riley Olsen), the app itself may not be able to parse that path.

Create a new folder on the desktop, so it has a simplified path like this:

/Users/jenifergreer/Desktop/NewFolder

Put the images you want to order prints of in that folder. Then try adding them in ROES.

So being on the "iCloud" version of my desktop was just too much for it to handle?

My guess would be ROES was looking for the file(s) on a local drive and has no idea how to access them on a remote (iCloud) server. Maybe more specifically, it does see the file name, but no data to go with it. Seeing "nothing", you get an error.

Glad to hear you can get your prints out now. 🙂
