Mirroring Apple Podcasts Station on Apple Watch

I run with my Apple Watch Ultra 2 without my phone and listen to podcasts. I have been using third party podcast apps but would like to give the Apple app a try. I have a station on my iPhone that I want to mirror on the watch. However, when I set the AW to download 10 episodes of that station to the AW, it downloads older episodes of the station (that I have already listened to another app and have removed from the station on the iPhone). This is frustrating and I can't figure out how to make this work. I would appreciate any help.
