icloud e-mail "Rejected due to DMARC"

I send regular e-mails to a large listserve. I had ONE icloud.com recipient today for which my e-mail hard bounced because “Rejected due to DMARC”. No one else on my listserve has that problem, so the problem is unlikely to be on my end. How can my recipient's icloud e-mail account be set up to misfilter in this way?

OK, I checked with my domain provider, and yes, my DMARC was defective. It has now been fixed. I have to assume that icloud.com and me.com were just checking DMARC more carefully than anyone else. I have no idea why this just happened. I've been using this domain for years with no trouble. Maybe icloud.com and me.com just started checking more carefully??

Maybe - but he wouldn’t normally control his DMARC filters, and certainly not if his email is iCloud.

Maybe he’s manually marking your email as junk and triggering the rejection instead on unsubscribing. Or he has accidentally trained his spam filter to see your email as junk. But I’m honestly not sure how much of that is within an iCloud mail users’ control, such that it would affect the underlying DMARC checks.

Well, if you know you have other iCloud mail recipients that don't have this issue...then this individual has something set up causing super-strict DMARC checking. Maybe some kind of Mail extension or Plug-in? I'm not enough of a mail expert to know - although those checks should be happening server-side and applied before the email is accepted at all...

Nope. That's unlikely. This is ONE PERSON out of a listserve of 800 people who is rejecting my e-mail. If my SPF, DKIM or DMARC are wrong, I'd have LOADS more rejections. I have precisely ONE rejection. My listserve managers think that his DMARC filter is set up improperly. That is, it's his problem, and not mine. I'm wondering how that filter can be set improperly.

Yes, I have a large listserve, but I do have one other icloud recipient, and I have no such problems with that recipient. So the offending recipient has done something to their DMARC checking. Not at all sure how they can accomplish that in icloud. Curiously, in my last e-mail, I had the same "Rejected due to DMARC", from two me.com addresses, which are Apple e-mails that predate icloud.com. Though in previous e-mails, when I first saw this error, it was cleanly delivered to them. So I remain puzzled, but it has something to do with Apple, and that something is changing.
