iCloud custom domain email won’t let me send to Gmail accounts due to lack of SPF or DKIM

For some time, I realized I have not been able to email people with Gmail addresses from my iCloud custom domain email. This is fairly recent, sometime around summer, and was not an issue before. The emails coming back end up in the iCloud spam folder stating:

This mail has been blocked because the sender is

unauthenticated. 550-5.7.26 Gmail requires all senders to authenticate with

either SPF or DKIM. 550-5.7.26 550-5.7.26 Authentication results:

   550-5.7.26 DKIM = did not pass 550-5.7.26 SPF ….

I have spoken to both apple support and my domain provider to no avail, and would really appreciate any solution to this as it affects a large part of my correspondence.

Has anyone experienced this and found any solution?
