Volume randomly turns down when my iPhone battery is below around 25%

Whenever my iPhone battery is below around 25%, my volume will randomly turn down to a very low volume. It will do this to anything played through the speakers including when a call is on speaker. It is incredibly frustrating and there is nothing I can do to increase the volume again - it shows as full. When I leave the iPhone stationary and don’t touch it over the course of a minute the volume ramps back up again. If I move of touch the screen it will drop back down to almost inaudible.

it is incredibly annoying if I am taking a call or listening to music.

I wondered if anyone was having a similar issue - I can’t seem to find much on the community pages that replicates exactly that I have.

Hi there,

I am not on low power mode and my battery % is 79%. To be honest, I’d rather it just run out of batteries rather than turn my volume down.

When your battery health reaches 80%, it is considered significantly degraded and Apple suggests you replace it. The battery can no longer perform well and you are starting to experience the conditions of it. Please make a reservation at your nearest Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider to schedule the battery replacement.

Higher iPhone volume can drain the battery faster as it requires more output. Are you by chance turning on Low Power Mode? When your iPhone is on Low Power Mode, it can bring your sound volume down to preserve battery.

Also go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and Charging. What does the percent say? A failing battery can also cause this, considering that your iPhone is 5 years old.
