The address you noted here is a perfectly legit web address. When I use that, Safari takes me directly to the correct page.

You may need to adjust a couple other settings if you want Safari to open with your choice of homepage. The Homepage is one thing, but the Start Page is another.

If you want Safari to open with your Homepage, then your Safari settings should be like this:

Safari opens with: A new window

New windows open with: Homepage

Homepage: apple.com/safari

Also, if you haven't already, you might wish to add the Homepage icon to Safari's Toolbar so you can click that to go directly to your Homepage anytime you like.

To add the Homepage icon to the Safari Toolbar:

• Right-click an empty area in the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar...

• Find the Homepage icon (looks like a house) and drag it up to the toolbar, then click "Done".

This - "www.safari" - is not a valid website that can be used as a home page. Safari.com may be used if the African Safari travel website is what you're looking for.

Safari is the macOS default browser application.

Your homepage should be one that you use very often when you first launch your browser. Something like google.com or gmail.com or apple.com or ...? - any web page that you like to start your browsing from. If you supply the name and ".com" suffix, Safari will attempt to complete the address using the secure prefix "https://" Even using "www" has not been a requirement in this situation for many years now.

You can easily set your homepage by first going to the page, then click Safari Settings > General and select "Set to Current Page" under Homepage.

Dear D.I. Johnson, Thank your your prompt reply. No am not looking for the African travel site. I have gone into Safari preferences >general and typed in 'apple.com.safari' for the Homepage. Also tried settings>general and chose Default web browser as'Safari.app'. Then I tried typing in 'Apple.com, then 'Safari.com'. Each time when I opened safari the 'www.safari' appeared in the search box and again it could not find the safari search box. the notice was that the the site did not respond. At present the homepage has 'https://apple.com/safari I do not know what else to do.

I also have chrome installed [which I have never used] and DuckDuckGo [which I do use sometimes] but I would like to use safari. Please help! Thanking you
