Why is the 'Buy' button missing when purchasing an app in the Mac App Store?

Hello!

I’m experiencing an issue when trying to purchase the Icon Slate app in the Mac App Store.

After clicking the “Buy” button in the store, a popup appears with information about the app, my Apple ID, and the price, but there is no confirmation button (“Buy”) in that popup. The only visible option is “Cancel”.

Here’s a screenshot: the popup shows all the details, but there is no way to confirm the purchase.

I’ve tried restarting both the App Store and my Mac, and I’ve verified that my Apple ID is properly signed in. Payment settings and restrictions are all in order.

Any idea what could be causing this? How can I complete the purchase?

Thank you!

I am a developer and this has recently become a common issue amongst quite a few of my users and causing me to lose business as users can't purchase the in app purchase. The "Buy" button is not showing for some reason.

I researched this and it seems that many others are also facing this issue with a variety of different apps. Note that I am unable to post links to multiple online threads where users are facing this issue.

I have developed multiple macOS apps and have users report this issue on at least two of them. So issue doesn't seem specific to the apps. Since this purchase screen is created by Apple, the developer doesn't have any control over it. So I am not sure how to resolve.

I think this is an issue which deserved immediate look from Apple as it's causing loss of business.

Check you are signed in (to your Mac) with your Apple (ID) Account details that you will use in the App Store:

Did you try clicking the "Apple Pay" shown i your screenshot?

Else:

Check you have a payment method that Apple can accept listed for purchases from Apple:

Apple requires you have a payment method listed in your Apple Account for the first time you use the App Store:

See which payment methods Apple can accept in your country or region:

Hi PranoyC,

Wondering if this recent Apple Support article (link below) may have some connection:
