How to recover lost Safari bookmarks when profiles disappear?

Friendly warning to everyone that Safari's profiles can disappear, causing all bookmarks saved under profiles to be permanently lost. My work and personal profiles suddenly disappeared, and in Safari's profile menu, there is only the option "start using profiles," as if I had never used them. I just wanted to warn others so that no one else has to experience the same. I lost a huge amount of various bookmarks that I had painstakingly collected for this reason.

Apple support was also unable to help and confirmed that this information is not stored in iCloud, so it can never be recovered. Additionally, they couldn't provide any reason why the profiles disappeared. Really unfortunate situation.
