iPhone 14 podcast app

All of a sudden my podcasts are acting like they are possessed by a ghost. Siri keeps coming on, playback speed changes by itself, stops and starts without touching it. I updated to the new iOS and it seemed to help at first but then it still happened with my wired earphones so I thought it might be the connection there. According to prior answers in a similar thread from a few years ago, a suggestion is to delete and reinstall the app. My question is, if I delete and reinstall the podcast app, will I lose all my history in terms of what was previously played and also my shows that I subscribed to? TIA

PS It even starts by itself when swiped closed and keeps playing after hitting the pause button so that a podcast I've not quite finished is already onto and halfway through the next in queue! Not great for my battery charge.
