Botched genuine iphone battery replacement

At the end of September 2024 I replaced a swollen iPhone 12 pro battery at one out of 3 appointed apple authorised service partner in my region which I got from apple official website (My country has no Apple Store). They replaced it which costed me around US$ 134, and the battery shows genuine parts. But sometime in early Feb 2025, I noticed that the battery has swollen again and was pushing the screen.

I never over charged the phone like leaving it overnight, always kept it monitor while charging and unplugged it when it reached 100%. I used the charging cable provided from the box so not unofficial cable or anything.

I went back to the same place, the repair centre has gone bust in December 2024 and was told to try the other 2 service place. I went to one, and they refused to replace the battery even though I was willing to pay for it. They said, there was unauthorised modification though their diagnostic tool report says "No unauthorised modification detected". Well there was none, the only thing I had to replace was the broken back glass. But what is that got to do with battery?

So, less than 6 months of use, genuine battery parts, swell up again, cost me US$ 134, and no support.

Very disappointed with Apple's appointed official service partner.

Corroding iPhone Battery:

Take this as a learning experience, knowing to always purchase AppleCare+ for such expensive devices. But, I see this is an iPhone 12 Pro. So, who is the seller? If you get a new iPhone, get one from Apple. So, if not purchased anew, maybe it was doing this, before the purchase? Once Apple would have say in whether or not a device can be replaced, through use of AppleCare or AppleCare+.

"The phone was given to me, never been serviced at all, everything was still original out of the box. No parts were broken only battery needed replacing. It may be a defected battery, even genuine parts can be a defected part."

A Time to Upgrade:

Depending on your location, Apple gives you a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty on all of its iPhones, when THEY sell it to you. So, take this as a good reason upgrade, purchasing it from Apple, and most certainly consider getting AppleCare+ with it, for instances like this. Service can be complete by mail.

Getting the Files Back:

As for transferring all of your data, I'm not so certain you could, being this has become a Health Hazard, resulting form a corroding battery. So, enable item in iCloud Settings, on the new iPhone, and be signed into the same Apple ID.
