How can I sort music by year in CarPlay?

Car play will sort music by every option, except by year. When in the car if I change the sorting to year it chooses alphabetical sorting anyway, and even that is not accurate. This is not a removed feature this is very much a bug that needs to be fixed. It absolutely astounding to me that Apple so regularly breaks their own stuff, and for what? Is it really pure incompetence?

Albums on carplay won’t sort by year Connecting iPhone 15 to wired CarPlay (VW) you can adjust the sorting of albums in music by year, date added or title. However since upgrading to ios18, in CarPlay, it will only sort by date added or title but sorting by year just will not work.
