Albums on carplay won’t sort by year

Connecting iPhone 15 to wired CarPlay (VW) you can adjust the sorting of albums in music by year, date added or title. However since upgrading to ios18, in CarPlay, it will only sort by date added or title but sorting by year just will not work.

I cannot be sure if it happened with iPadOS 17.1.1. update or it happened earlier, but I noticed that iPad Music no longer have an option to sort Albums by "recently added". It now only allow me to sort by "Title" or "Artist". In addition, I have noticed that Music App will randomly stop loading music from Music App with spinning wheel, and only way to get back connection is to force quit App and re-start App.... On my iPhone Music App. with iOS 17.0.3, I can see that I still have an option to sort Album by "recently added" along with "title" and "artist", and not suffering random connection issue. I just updated my iPhone, and upon updating to iOS 17.1.1., iPhone Music App and I also lost ability to sort Albums by "recently added" option.... I hope this is not a new "feature" and Apple accidentally removed this feature???

I'm unable to sort my Music albums by Year on Apple Music using iPhone sorting albums in music with new software wont let you sort by year. hoping this will be fixed? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Music issues in iOS18 - Can’t sort by album release date. i updated to iOS18 last week and since then my library has been messed up. It seemed to duplicate a ton of songs randomly and now won’t allow me to sort by album release date. The option is there, but it flips everything from newest to oldest. So if you have an artist that you want to play their catalog from actual release dates (oldest to newest) you’re screwed. You can only play them newest to oldest. Any thoughts? I haven’t tried nuking it and the. Re-syncing the entire thing with my computer (again…since that’s what I had to do twice when I upgraded to the iPhone 15 last year and it took an eternity since I have a massive library….)

There’s nothing you can do about it and it’s not a bug that needs fixing. If you want the feature back submit feedback to Apple using the proper channel.

My phone (14 Plus) just updated to iOS 18.1.1 and this just happened to my library as well. No option to switch it back. Really annoying. Hopefully they fix it.
