Apple Map mistakenly shows Gulf of Mexico as Gulf of America

You’ll see the name in the United States as it was changed in the USGS database. Outside of the US the name remains as it has for 400+ years.

Apple does not produce its maps. It sources them from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) which has been directed by a 2025 Presidential Executive Order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in U.S. map data.

You cannot revert these changes in the U.S. map data provided via Apple Maps.

What did your Congressional Representatives say when you contacted them? They have the ability to change the data supplied by the USGS and you have the ability to choose who you want to represent your views.
