Can I opt out of unofficial Gulf of Mexico name change in Apple Maps?

Is there a way to opt out of the Apple Maps update that incorrectly altered the name of the Gulf of Mexico? Until the remaining countries that border it agree to rename it officially, the name change is unofficial other than in documents created for the U.S. government.

“Even Google”?! Like Google is the arbiter of truth? Countries outside of the US still show the ACTUAL official name as Gulf of Mexico. It’s only in the US that maps show the wrong name. Google and Apple are kissing trumplethinskin’s @$$.

IF this bothers you that much, and since the name hasn't changed outside of the US, you can pack your belongings and move out of the United States, then you can see Gulf of Mexico in your maps.

There are many bodies of water that have different names depending on what country is making the maps. For example, Sea of Japan/East Korean Sea, English Channel/La Manche, Persian Gulf/Arabian Gulf.

This is not the time to get distracted by the trivial.
