MacBook Air not accepting password to add Touch ID

My MacBook Air is saying ‘Your password is required to enable touch ID’. It is not accepting either my apple login password or computer password, both of which I messaged to myself when I set it up a week ago. Any advice please?

Your Password is needed to enable touch ID On my MacBook Pro 16" (macOS 12.5, MacBookPro18,1) I receive the message "Your password is required to enable touch ID" everytime. iMac won't accept password to enable Touch ID My IMac is asking for my password to enable Touch ID but it won’t accept my password (or anything else). I have not received an error that my entries are wrong. I have tried many times. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Check the language of input keyboard before entering password.

still doesn't work go to recovery mode and reset the password from terminal with out losing data
