Yale Assure locks sell as Homekit compatible but they are not.
Since 2021, Yale has been selling the Assure door lock, which misleadingly claims compatibility with HomeKit. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I have purchased three of these locks, and each one has displayed an error message stating that the Yale Assure lock accessory is not supported. I believe this constitutes false advertising, and Yale should stop promoting their product as Apple-compatible. It's disappointing to see that Yale cannot make this product function as effectively as their previous lock models.
One Yale technician acknowledged that my version of the lock does not work with Apple products, despite the box clearly stating compatibility with HomeKit and its availability at the Apple Store. Another technician falsely claimed it was his first time encountering this issue and suggested I file a bug report with Apple. It's now 2025, and this problem dates back to 2021. It seems easier for Yale to mislead customers into believing their product is HomeKit-compatible rather than address the ongoing issue.
After more than four years, this problem remains unresolved. I strongly advise against purchasing the Yale Assure lock for HomeKit; if you have already bought it, consider returning it. Alternatives like Google products and Govee seem to function much more reliably then the HomeKit environment, I wasted thousands of dollars investing in Homekit house. it is clear I need to start over with a more reliable environment. Thanks Apple for not caring and continuing to update and disable reliability with NO customer service support. (Seems only Hardware gets support) The constant updates and more and more unresponsive accessories, coupled with a lack of Apple support, are incredibly frustrating.
At this point, I am exasperated enough to revisit the unresolved problems from 2021. It feels as though neither Yale nor Apple is concerned, and many Apple products are losing their reliability with every update. Seriously it is a pervasive issue accross all of Apple… Can someone please eliminate Live Photos once and for all? It’s frustrating to have complaints, and needs not heard and ignored! Why even have a support blog if no one monitors these things. My trust and appreciation for apple products is waning as I am constantly fixing and looking for controls that constantly move and are reorganized. So disappointing.
