Podcast app not resuming playback on iPhone

continuing issues with podcast app. When i first ask Siri to play podcasts in the AM it plays the most recently downloaded and not the one i was in the middle of listening to. This is ridiculous

iOS 18 ruined Podcast app Many times I will tell Siri to play podcasts, and it will start playing another episode other than the one I was listening to. As in, I was listening to one episode, then stopped to go do something. When I tell Siri to play podcasts again, it will play something else. It won't play what I was listening to in the first place. So, in short: WHY IS THIS HAPPENING WHEN IT DIDN'T HAPPEN BEFORE I UPGRADED MY OS? This is unacceptable from a billion-dollar company. And while we're at it, why does the app constantly add episodes to a "continue listening" list (or another similar name) when I DIDN'T TELL IT TO DO SO? Stop breaking things that were working fine in the first place!

Why does siri think I don't have Apple Podcasts loaded when I do? Now all of sudden, when I ask Siri to play a podcast it tells me I don't have Apple Podcast loaded but I do. Frustrating and dangerous when driving as I don't want to go back to manually have to play podcasts. Any ideas?

Cannot open Apple Podcast using Siri - Accept New Privacy Agreement I recently updated to the iPhone 16 Pro and the latest version of iOS. There have been several rough transition points with notifications not appearing for migrated apps that has caused problems with Siri and CarPlay. Most recently, I kept getting blocked from opening Apple Podcasts via Siri. The message I would receive indicated that I needed to agree to the latest privacy statement. However, there was no place within Siri’s settings or the Apple Podcasts app about privacy statement. I’ve found a few people who have mentioned the same issue, but nobody found a definitive solution. I dug around and believe that I’ve figured it out and wanted to pass it along. TLDR; the Apple Podcasts app does *not* issue a privacy notification, but it will not open via Siri if the privacy notification in the Apple Music app hasn’t been accepted. This was especially confusing in my case as I haven’t used the Apple Music app in years and have had it uninstalled for the last three phones I’ve owned. To get past this issue I had to re-download the Apple Music app, open it and walk through the various terms and agreement prompts that it presented. Once I did that, Siri would open Podcasts just fine. Even deleting the Apple Music app again, Siri would launch Podcasts again. Hope this helps others figure this out. Cheers.
