Quick Start Transfer. Software update taking a very long time.

I am using Quick Start to move my data from iPhone 8 to iPhone 14. The new iPhone 14 indicated it needed to install new software. The download and preparation completed. Install Now began with the spinning circle. The old phone from which I am transferring says “Waiting for software update”.

It is now about 90 minutes since the install began. How long should I continue waiting? What should I do?

Please try a force reset procedure as outlined below, this will determine if this is a software issue.

Press and quickly release the volume up button.
Press and quickly release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

If that doesn’t help, this is likely a hardware issue in which you should go back to wherever you purchased your new iPhone and take this up with them. If you purchased this new iPhone from Apple, they will most likely offer exchanges for defective products. If this wasn’t purchased from Apple, you are subject to that retailer’s terms.
