Windows 10 recognizes iPod but iTunes doesn't?

I ran diagnostics and it said "iPod Support" was not installed - but it didn't provide an actual way to download it? Reinstalling iTunes (even an old version) didn't help. Note: no old System Restore points available. How do I get "iPod Support" back?

I got it to work:

If iTunes doesn't show the iPod icon when it gets plugged in (and Windows does open a window), install "Apple Devices" app and open it (plugging in the iPod will then cause it to download the "iPod Support" app - you can verify using the "Add or Remove..." app). If there then remove the "Apple Devices" app. Now iTunes app should show the iPod icon when it gets plugged in!
