Stolen iPhone 16 Pro Max’s location is disabled

Someone stole my iPhone 16 pro max. I could see where they were. I went to the location, but the owner of the cell phone store refused to accept that he had it. After I left. He disabled the location on it. Is there a way for me to make sure that my information is cleared out of that phone.? Also, is there a way that I can continue to track that phone.

You did have a passcode on the phone, correct? There is no way that anyone could ever guess your passcode in the very limited number of tries before the phone won't even allow any more log on attempts.

What is the message when you use Find My to log on to the phone?

"No Device Found"?

"Offline"?

Something else?

Contact the police. You've done what you can. Your phone is not usable by anyone else.

The store may or may not have it. Accusing them without evidence is not wise... and no, you don't have evidence. You may have evidence that was in or near the store at some point, but you have no evidence that the store has it.

Don't remove it from find my. Don't fall for phishing messages telling you it's been found and prompting you to log in.

File a police report and report the theft to your cellular carrier. Check with your homeowners or renters insurance to see if it may be covered if you don't have AppleCare+ with theft and loss coverage.

Buy a new phone and move on. It is highly unlikely you will ever see that device again. Even if you do manage to locate it, attempting to recover it yourself is beyond stupid. A cell phone is not worth the risk of potential violence.
