When I try to sign in to my Apple account on my iMac, it says "Failed to verify your identity. Try again."
I have no trouble logging in with my Macbook. It is an older iMac running OS 10.13.6.

For an older MacBook running anything below Sierra you might try to get a verification code from settings>privacy and securty on one of your newer devices and login with that instead of your password to verify your identity and log in with an apple account using 2fa
