MacBook Air M3 very slow in iMessage and Whatsapp
When click on a different contact in iMessage and WhatsApp, there is about a 4-5 second delay before I cans art typing. I've had the computer a few months now and never had this issue before.
In addition to simply restarting your Mac, there are a few other things you can try.
- Be sure you have the latest updates of macOS (for iMessage) and for WhatsApp.
- While using either of these apps, use the Activity Monitor to see what background processes are going on that may be using excessive CPU.
- Do you use message effects with either of these apps? If you do, try disabling them temporarily to see if that makes any difference.
- Check the amount of disk space on your Mac. You will want no less than 15-20% free.
- Boot up your Mac in Safe Mode to see if it makes any difference with these apps.
- Try reinstalling WhatsApp.
