iMessage bug: Cursor jumps and overwrites text in long iMessages on Mac

i am running iMessage Version 14.0 (6000) on Mac Ventura 13.4. I have noticed that when I am typing an iMessage on my Mac, after a certain number of characters, the cursor jumps to somewhere in the middle of the message and begins typing OVER what i have already written. so, not only does it mess up my message, but because it’s actually overwriting something i’ve already typed, i lose the words i’ve written and have to try to figure out what it is that i wrote. i’ve been using iMessage on my mac for years, and i’ve never had this issue until getting this new mac and new OS. it seems like the problem starts to show up after about 1800 characters. if i click out of the program and back in and continue, it seems to solve the issue in that i can keep writing without the cursor jumping to another spot. has anyone else experienced this problem, and is there any way to fix it?
