apple devices app on Windows 10 doesn't work.

I tried unsuccessfully to backup my iphone 8 to a windows 10 pc. I opened the app and connected the phone. The phone went through the usual routine of asking whether to trust the computer, accepted my passcode and was labeled "trusted" in the sidebar. The problem came at the next step when he PC asks whether or not to trust the phone. Inistructions on the PC monitor were to "click trust then tap trust on the device." I clicked the "trust box" on the PC, but no corresponding box appeared on the phone screen. I could not go any further. The phone was clearly recognized by the PC. It showed up on the Device manager under "Portable devices" and the "Apple Mobile Device USB Device" showed up under USB devices. Both had current drivers. The phone came up in File Manager. For good measure I reloaded the app, rebooted and PC and the phone. Nothing helped. I repeated the whole experiment withn an ipad Air 3 - again without success. The iphone is running ios 16.7.10, the ipad ios is 18.1.1. Any help wwould be appreciated. Is it possible that one or more settings needs to be changed in the PC or the phone? Thankk you

I have the same issue wen I click on Apple devices I plug in my phone and trust it it is stuck on the trust icon and won’t show the side bar for me to put music on to my phone through windows, it worked on my iPhone 13 but it won’t work on my iPhone 16, I’ve seen that you can’t have iTunes on your computer as well as Apple devices as it trying to decide which one to connect to, so I’ve deleted iTunes as there no longer being used but still can’t connect, I’ve had this issue since Nov, any help would be appreciated guys

thankyou

I had a similar issue where the "Trust" function within "Apple Devices" would not allow my iPad to fully connect; it "saw" it, but the sync functions, etc were not available. Disabling security software had no effect, neither did updating everything, neither did multiple restarts. After chatting with Apple Support, deleting some prefs files in an Apple folder did the trick. Here's the instructions I received and followed;

"We'll try these steps next:

1 Disconnect the iPad from the computer.

2 Quit all Apple software (Apple Music, Apple Devices, Apple TV, and/or iTunes).

3 Press the Windows key and R on the keyboard.

4 In the Run window, enter %ProgramData% and press enter or click "OK".

5 Double-click the Apple folder.

6 Right-click the Lockdown folder and choose "Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder."

7 Double-click the Lockdown folder. Inside the Lockdown folder, delete all files.

8 Connect the iPad and open Apple Devices, then try again"

The above worked for me!

I had the same problem on Windows 11. I think I got it to work when I deleted 2 of the three windows pc objects with the same name. Go into your i-device "settings", then "Apple account" and scroll down to see if you have multiple Windows objects with the same name. The windows object should be the same name of the computer you installed the "Apple Devices App". Let me know if this helps.

This is what worked for me. I had to turn off all of the windows firewalls and anti-virus programs. Plugged in my iphone and opened the apple devices app and it finally recognized that I had my iphone plugged into my hp laptop. Make sure to turn all the Windows antivirus and firewalls back on when you're done updating your iphone. I suffered very long without updating my playlists/music and this was a great discovery for me. I almost switched to an android cell phone.
