Apple TV+ not working

I've just subscribed to Apple TV+ but every time I try watching something on my Macbook it does not work. Sometimes it only plays the subtitles (but no image or sound), other times the app simply closes after I click on a movie/episode.


I can watch content on my Iphone so I can don't think there's a problem with my subscription.


I had this problem yesterday so I updated to macOS Sequoia but it's still not working.


Any help?

For watching on a MacBook Air, do you use the built-in screen or an external monitor? The first should work normally, the second may have some hurdles and extra requirements.

If you have external accessories connected to the MacBook Air, then please try without those. Possibly one of those could interfere.

If you try to record the screen, or screen mirror (screen capture), then you could get a blocked video stream while the subtitles and/or sound get through. Even having software [Webex, Teams, Zoom, etc.] with that capability running (but not yet capturing), could invoke the blocking.


For Macs, the TV app has its own sign-in (menu Account, or else at the bottom of the sidebar), not automatically taken from the System Settings. I assume you know that or have found that?

I did not remember the app had its own sign-in menu, has I was already signed in from using the service last summer. However, I tried logging out and logging in again and now it's working! I changed countries and had to change App Stores and i guess the Apple TV+ didn't automatically change the country to the new own associated to my account, and that's why it was bugging.
