AirTag. Find My Unavailable. Unable to share AirTag. Please try later.

We have Two iPhone 11 Pro’s, 2 IPad Pro’s all on iOS 17.6.1

one of each on two different Apple ID’s with family sharing on.

Network settings all reset.


it doesn’t matter which device the AirTag is set up on (setup works instantly) it cannot be shared to the other Apple ID devices. Every attempt is met with “Find My Unavailable. Unable to share AirTag. Please try later”


Makes no sense Find My is working on all devices for devices but only the ID linked to the tag sees it in items.


Any clues as to why the issue persists would be welcome


Even tried taking the battery out of the AirTag to no avail.

I can confirm this still happens on a new iPhone with IOS18. In the past, we shared several AirTags.


Recently, I installed new AirTags and linked them to one iPhone. Sharing ALWAYS fails with “Find My Unavailable / Unable to share AirTag. Please try again later.”


This used to work - any update on why this might happen?
