Vizio tv remote no longer controls Apple TV 4k

Our Vizio TV remove also quit working on March 15th. Assumed it was batteries, so replaced. Vizio remote will control the TV but not the Apple TV. Please advise on solution. 

Found the reprogram did not work, as apple advised. First tried a universal remote with certain conflicts and fails.

Finally found a SOLUTION!

Ordered a FUNCTION 101 remote and works great so far. Able to navigate both the Apple TV4k, TV, and sound bar. Sound bar syncs with the TV, so you may have an echo until you disable a smart TV’s speakers. That is what I did to resolve.

purchased on the A…zon website. FUNCTION 101 phone tech support helped me. Works Awesome now.

Apple failed to advise of this change.😞

As mysteriously as my Vizio remote stopped working with my Apple TV, it is now working again.

Same here. Stopped working on Friday 3/15. Changed batteries. Tried to have Apple TV relearn the Vizio remote. Nope nothing at all.

But I was able to train Apple TV to recognize my FIOS remote. Weird.

Determined the Vizio tv needed the remote paired. If you go to Menu/settings/remote control (Universal) ; you can program the keys to match Left/Right/Up/Down/Ok etc.

Not sure why the change, but have had similar problems with Vizio.

I think Vizio tracks your viewing and then sell it. Probably cannot obtain that information if using your Apple TV.

My next TV will not be a Vizio.

im Just here to say me too! The mid march date aligns with when I remember it stopping working. Incredibly frustrating that they broke this. I thought I did something wrong until I found this thread.

tvOS 17.4 - no HDMI CEC - Apple Community

My Epson projector just started exhibiting the same problem. tvOS 17.4 seems to have messed something up. I can control my receiver but it can no longer be controlled via HDMI.

I tried that but it didn't work. Then a day or so later it started working again. But tighten up that tinfoil hat. They're watching you!



When I tried to pair the remote nothing happened. The Apple TV received no input.
