how to enable double click to install

i just got a new iphone 15 plus updated to ios 17.2 as of today. I had an iphone 11 before and it let me use double click to install an app instead of having to put in my apple id password every time. i’ve searched google all day. i’ve already tried the following:

settings > face id & passcode > turned itunes & app store on and off

settings > wallet & apple pay > double click side button

i’ve done these multiple times today and turned my phone off and on multiple times today and nothings changed.

I have had the same issues since I updated to 17.2 as well. Did a factory reset and nothing is working like before. Even some of the descriptions in the settings have changed. I tried to turn my 14plus off using the side button and it no longer works either! I’m going back to Samsung first chance! Every update has made changes to my phone and messed things up! Updates should not change settings etc! Ridiculous! Been at it for hours and still to no avail any resolutions or anything to fix the problem!

This only happened after installing iOS 17.4.1. I followed the recommendations in reverse order, and it worked after about four to five tries. First, iOS failed to verify when using my Apple ID password. I had to change and revert my Apple ID credentials. I think Apple is not like it was before. They are starting to emulate Microsoft OS—sloppy coding and failing to verify their coding.
