It’s a **** pop up message from Apple. Not a text, not an email, not any outside communication source. And won’t let you buy without editing your information. So if it’s a scam, it’s coming directly from the company. That’s a cheery thought.
I contacted Apple support. After some research, me deleting, and re-adding the card, or research I got it fixed. They ultimately had to remove my card in their system and have me edit it back in. It took about an hour but worth it.
This is happening to tons of people (including me) - it's clearly an Apple problem. See this thread:

What says your credit card is about to expire, email, text, phone call or what? Are you sure it’s from Apple? It could be an attempt to get your financial information.
When I try to use Apple Pay
says my phone is deactivated
The same thing happened to me. I had to delete the card and add it again.
Same here. Deleted and added back. This is the second day of aggravation. I hope Apple gets off their butts and fixes it.
I deleted it and added it back. Still got the same message when I tried to use it. Everything is updated, not sure what to do now.
Do you know if you were talking to Goldman Sachs support or Apple support?
This isn't the Apple credit card, it's the credit card on file for your Apple account (unless that's the actual card linked to your account).
Did they say if it's a new known issue and if they're working on a solution? We shouldn't all have to contact support to fix this.
When I chatted with them, they said they had not heard about it. They spent considerable time researching the issue.
Well that sucks - I suppose we have to all call support and maybe they'll realize there's a problem.
Ahh, it’s posted in the Apple Card community, hence my question/confusion.
