Wrong location for apps on Apple TV

Both the Fox Sports and NBC Sports apps are using incorrect locations for local programming and commercials. We live in North Carolina, but the Fox Sports app is showing a station out of Oakland, Calif. (which means we are getting the wrong NFL games). The NBC Sports app gives commercials out of Iowa. I don’t think the problem is with my WiFi, as the Fox Sports app on my iPad correctly shows our local station’s programming. Any suggestions on a fix? I tried to delete and reinstall the Fox Sports app but had the same result.

It seems that some content providers approximate your location from your IP address. Geolocation (geographic location) lookup from IP address is not standardized, and you wouldn’t know the specific database that the other party is using for lookup. If you ask 3 sites, then you may get 3 different answers. Also, VPNs may mess that up.

What is my browser? Plus IP address and geolocation from that - Whatismybrowser.com

What is my IP location (geolocation)? - IPlocation.net

Also, verify that you have activated Location Services in Privacy Settings. Verify that you allowed these apps to use Location Services on Apple TV. Else try contacting your ISP to get a new IP address that better reflects your actual location for IP-to-geolocation lookup.
