Sharing an AirTag, but no location found for others

I got a new AirTag that works fine on my phone, but when I shared it with other people it says “no location found” on their FindMy app.

everyone has updated iPhone software and no other issues with the FindMy apps before.

AirTag now showing up for person it is shared with. I have two AirTags that I have connected to my phone. These show up just fine for me in Find My on my phone. I share them to my son’s phone and they show up as listed items, but they say “No Location Found”. I have tried sharing to both his phone number and Apple ID email as well. Can anyone tell me why? We are both updated to iOS 17.1.2. I am on an iPhone 15 ProMax and he is on a 13. Needing some help getting this working! Many thanks.

AirTag. Find My Unavailable. Unable to share AirTag. Please try later. We have Two iPhone 11 Pro’s, 2 IPad Pro’s all on iOS 17.6.1 one of each on two different Apple ID’s with family sharing on. Network settings all reset. it doesn’t matter which device the AirTag is set up on (setup works instantly) it cannot be shared to the other Apple ID devices. Every attempt is met with “Find My Unavailable. Unable to share AirTag. Please try later” Makes no sense Find My is working on all devices for devices but only the ID linked to the tag sees it in items. Any clues as to why the issue persists would be welcome Even tried taking the battery out of the AirTag to no avail.

This issue is posted all over the web (I found it because I am having the same problem). Multiple users have contacted Apple Support and some have reportedly gone to the "Genius" Bar and it has been confirmed but no one can figure it out. It has been CLAIMED the issue has been reported to Apple. It only seems to happen to NEW AirTag shares recently (IOS 17.?) added. EXISTING working shared AirTags continue to work unless it is removed and readded, then it fails as well. I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple doing every silly thing they asked but nothing fixed it.

Same here, works fine for me but others no. I just updated the other day, they did too.
