"Apple Pay has been disabled because the security settings on this Mac were modified" error shown

Hi everyone,


I have seen some community posts dating back between 2020 - 2022 showing people experiencing this issue, but for no reason, I have also started to experience this issue as of today 🤷🏻‍♂️


My MBP Details

Model: MacBook Pro 16" 2023 | M2 Max chip

Version: MacOS 14.1.2


When I navigate to Apple > Settings > Wallet & Apple Pay


I see the following error up top



I also see this if I try to Add a new Card



I can confirm that:


  1. I have tried to toggle "install security responses and system files" on/off and still face the same issue
  2. csrutil status is enabled


I have not changed any security or system settings either.


Has anyone managed to solve this issue at all?


Any pointers here would be much apprecaited
