Image capture messed up my scan/print function

Since image capture was installed with apple update, my brother printer disappeared from the dock at the bottom. When I found the printer in systems folder and went to scan the"combine into one document" setting disappeared too.

Any ideas for a not so savvy mac person?

Image Capture is part of macOS and has been for over two decades, it was not "installed" recently.

You can try to scan using the Brother software, as BDAqua suggested, or use Image Capture.

If your printer/scanner does not appear, may you need to add it again in System Settings->Printers & Scanners. Does it already show there?
