iPhone messages asks if I want to update a contacts name and photo

So I understand that this is an iCloud thing and that the person sending me the message has name and photo sharing turned on so anyone with their contact saved on iPhone can easily update contact info if it changes. However some people have only their first names saved whereas I like to save the contacts first and last names. This means every time I get a message from them I get an annoying box open up at the top of the message screen asking to update the info and if I want to maximise my screen space for the message thread, I have to close down that box. Also, I have a contact saved as ‘Mum’ which I’d like to keep as such and not update it to ‘Ronnie ***’ … I prefer to call her mum so as you can see, it’s very frustrating that I can’t turn off mums name and photo sharing from my end while she can continue sharing it with everyone else. Unless there is a way??

An elderly neighbor just received an iPhone from her kids. When she texts me, I see her initials in the grey ID circle at the top of the screen, and her first name beneath the circle, but I get a banner that states "New name and photo available" and it lists her sister's name and photo. She and her kids have been alerted to the problem, but now it's offering another "new name and photo"... that of another friend of hers in her contact list. We have a group chat on our street and other neighbors are getting the same banner. Seems like the sister and the friend in her contact list are being publicized without their knowledge.
