iMessage Audio Transcribing

Has ANYONE figured out how to disable audio messages from being transcribed? Should be an option to turn OFF like voicemail!!

No, they're referring to when you send a voice message in iMessage, it auto transcribes the message. It's usually never accurate and there is no option, we can find, to turn it off.

DISABLE iMessage Voice transcription So apparently Apple decided to forcibly transcribe text if you send someone an audio message in iMessage. If I wanted to send a text I would send a text! When I want them to hear my voice, I send an audio. There’s already a way to do “talk to text” in iMessage. Why are you forcing transcription on audios now? Not only does the thing hang when it tries to send because it’s too busy trying to transcribe for 10 minutes, but I want people to listen to my voice. That’s why I send audios. This is going to cause so many problems for people that use this feature for very specific reasons. And you don’t even have a setting in the settings to disable it? who makes these decisions?

Why can’t we turn off the new iMessage voice message transcription? We would like the option to disable the transcription of voice notes. It slows down my phone. It takes longer to send because we have to wait for it to transcribe before we can click on any other message. That’s a pain. 2.It is inaccurate at best. Really bad. 3. If we wanted to utilize voice to text, we have that option, but I want my clients to hear the emotion, excitement & inflection in my voice, vs reading it in whatever current emotional state they’re in. The whole point of having an option that’s engaging like voice text messaging. We need to be able to utilize it or disable if we desire. Thank you!

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! To clarify, are you referring to dictation? If so, this can be disabled by following the steps below:

Dictate text on iPhone

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard.

2. Turn off Enable Dictation.

no,..when you send a voice message in iMessage it sends a caption of voice message. Is there a way to turn the caption off and only send the voice message?
