FaceTime on Apple TV with TVOS 17 always ends with call failed!

iPhone and Apple TV both on 17, camera connects but every contact returns "call failed" instantly. Facetime calls from the iPhone work, just not the ones initiated from the ATV.

I had the same problem. I got it to work by going into the FaceTime settings on your iPhone, and select your email address as the caller ID (which should match your Apple ID). Mine was set to my cell number and I think that was the problem.

I fixed this issue by doing a factory reset on the Apple TV

There’s a few people of Reddit suggesting they are having the same issue. I hope Apple issue a fix soon, but im not too sure they know the bug is happening. How do you submit bug reports for tvOS?

Having the same problem trying to FaceTime an iPhone 14 on iOS 17… if I call from my iPhone it works if I use my 3rd gen Apple TV 4K “call failed” anyone have any answers?

This is happening to me when i try and call people in my FaceTime call list on TVOS. The end users have different model iPhones and versions of IOS. I’m running the latest software and IPhone 14pro as the camera.

I spoke to Apple, it’s a known bug effecting some users and “the engineers are currently working on it” so it will be wait for the next software patch…
